En estas fiestas navideñas todos queremos destacar ante tantísimos eventos sociales que se nos viene encima. Así que ¿te atreverías a ponerte un esmoquin y dar un paso más allá a la hora de vestir bien?
En nuestros días el esmoquin tiene esa aura que genera admiración y respecto a partes iguales, lo que en ocasiones también puede llegar a crear una barrera impenetrable. Sin embargo, a pesar de ser hoy en día la etiqueta más elevada del armario masculino –con permiso del desaparecido frac–, no debemos tenerle ese miedo, aunque sí respeto.
El tuxedo no es un traje habitual, por lo que el aprecio a los detalles y a cómo debe quedar puede escaparse algo de las manos. No hay por qué preocuparse. A pesar de su elevado rango, sigue siendo un traje y las normas para elegir la talla y ajustarlo a nosotros son las mismas que las de cualquier dos piezas. Las principales diferencias son su solapa en contraste (siempre redondeada o en punta de lanza, las más sofisticadas), sus botones forrados y una banda que recorre todo el lateral del pantalón en el mismo tejido de la solapa. ¿Nuestra recomendación para escoger uno? Si te enfrentas a tu primer esmoquin, el negro será la opción perfecta, ya que se adaptará a posibles eventos futuros que también requieran de su uso.

In our time the tuxedo has that elevated aura that generates admiration and respect in equal parts, which sometimes can also create an impenetrable barrier. The tuxedo is not a regular suit, so the appreciation of details and how it should look can get a little out of hand. There is no need to worry. Despite its high etiquette, it is still a suit and the rules for choosing the size and fitting are the same as for any two-piece. The main differences are its contrasting lapel (always rounded or spearheaded, the most sophisticated ones), its lined buttons and a band that runs along the side of the pants in the same fabric as the lapel. Our recommendation for choosing one? If you are facing your first tuxedo, the black one will be the perfect choice, as it will adapt to possible future events that also require its use.
Cómo diferenciarse del resto
Teniendo como base un traje tan clásico como es el esmoquin y que el negro es el más habitual de ver, cabe pensar que no hay demasiado margen de maniobra a la hora de experimentar y diferenciarse, pero no es así.
A excepción de los zapatos, que serán siempre de charol (bien de cordones u opera pumps), la camisa, la pajarita, el fajín o el chaleco también son parte del look y no podemos olvidarnos de que, dependiendo de la elección de los complementos –por forma o color–, tendremos como resultado una imagen diferente. Si como sello final le añadimos unos gemelos a los puños de la camisa o un broche en la solapa de la chaqueta, el look final puede ser espectacular o, por lo contrario, arruinarlo por completo look. ¿Qué hacer en estos casos? Empieza por lo más sencillo: camisa blanca con puño de gemelo, pajarita (o corbata de seda) negra y zapatos de charol. El resto de complementos, cuando la confianza lo permita.
Una recomendación muy importante es volverse a mirar al espejo antes de salir y comprobar a quién estamos viendo en el mismo. Lo importante es que seamos nosotros mismos y lo podamos llevar con seguridad.
