Qué lujo estar en la ciudad donde confluyen el Atlántico y el Mediterráneo. Es Tánger, la urbe que pintaron Matisse y Delacroix en busca de su legendaria luz, llena de lugares misteriosos que hacen de su leyenda algo inexplicablemete atrayente.
Lamentablemente yo sólo tengo unas horas para visitar la ciudad porque, como ya sabéis estoy aquí para el Festival Ecuestre de Mata, pero eso no me ha impedido disfrutarla con la promesa de volver con más tiempo.
Esta es mi humilde recomendación sobre qué ver en Tánger si sólo tienes 1 día para visitarla.
What a privilege to be in the city where the Atlantic and the Mediterranean meet. It is Tangier, the city painted by Matisse and Delacroix in search of its legendary light, full of mysterious places that make its legend something inexplicably attractive.
Unfortunately I only have a few hours to visit the city because, as you know I am here at the Mata Equestrian Festival, but that has not stopped me from enjoying it with the promise of coming back with more time.
This is my humble recommendation on what to see in Tangier if you only have 1 day to visit.

Té o café en el café Hafa
Cualquier hora es buena para ir a este mítico café. Abierto desde hace más de siglo y con sus terrazas enclavadas en la ladera de la colina, podréis tomar té o café con vistas maravillosas al la bahía de Tánger y ver, justo enfrente a poco más de 10 kilometros, Europa y el estrecho de Gibraltar. Especialmente bueno está el té a la menta, os lo recomiendo.

Savour a cup of tea in the Hafa cafe, its terraces set into the hillside, across from the sublime bay of Tangier and right on the Strait of Gibraltar. Tangier feels like an extension of Europe, but with reminders of the Sahara - its wide Atlantic beaches, eucalyptus and dry wind from the east. Cape Spartel is the extreme tip of Africa - with Spain less than eight miles away - where oceans meet and with beaches that stretch into the distance.

Librerie Des Colonnes
Librería de culto de Tánger. Sólo por su Historia merece la pena visitarla. Por allí han pasado grandes firmas literarias no sólo marroquíes, sino también francesa y española. Famosas en todo el país eran las tertulias que allí tenían lugar en el siglo pasado y, dicen, lugar de encuentro de espías internacionaes durante la II Guerra Mundial. Aunque no compreis ningun libro, difícil no hacerlo, se debe visitar.

Tangier's cult bookshop. It is well worth a visit just for its impressive background. Great literary signatures have passed through here, not only Moroccan, but also French and Spanish. Famous throughout the country were the gatherings that took place there in the last century and, they say, meeting place of international spies during World War II. Even if you don't buy any books, it's hard not to, you must visit it.

Paseo por la Kasbah
Después de tomar un té y ver la librería más famosa de todo Marruecos, te recomiendo te pierdas por la Kasbah. Es un placer ver como los niños juegan por las callejuelas, las mujeres lavan la ropa en la fuente, los mayores charlan en los pequeños bares... y todo eso envuelto en un clima de paz y armonía que hace que no pares de sonreir todo el tiempo. Aprovecha para comer cualquier cosa de comoda local en los cientos de establecimientos que por allí encontrarás. La kasbah baja hasta el mar, disfrútala.

After having a tea and seeing the most famous bookstore in Morocco, I recommend you to get lost in the Kasbah. It is a pleasure to see how children play in the narrow streets, women wash clothes in the fountain, the elderly chat in the small bars ... and all this wrapped in a climate of peace and harmony that makes you do not stop smiling all the time. The kasbah goes down to the sea, enjoy it.

Un día en Tánger también significa un masaje de Khadija, de 74 años, que tiene toda la energía de una muchacha. Ha trabajado con los Rolling Stones y es amiga del pianista de jazz Randy Weston. Puede que sea la mejor embajadora de la ciudad. Cinemateca de Tánger
Tras rendirse al masaje de Khadija y limpiarse de toda tensión, algo de beber es lo que te espera en la terraza del antiguo cine Rif, hoy Cinémathèque, en el Gran Socco, entre la Medina y la ciudad nueva. La Cinémathèque proyecta videoarte marroquí, películas árabes populares y retrospectivas del cineasta independiente estadounidense John Cassavetes. Con su moderna decoración vintage, sus lámparas y sus sillones de mercadillo de los años sesenta, es el punto de encuentro de la floreciente comunidad bohemia de Tánger. Desde allí se puede contemplar la hilera de palmeras que llega hasta la plaza y el insólito panorama de una mezquita, una catedral española y una iglesia anglicana.

After surrendering to Khadija's massage and cleansed of all tension, there's a drink waiting on the terrace of the old Rif cinema, now the Cinémathèque, on the Grand Socco, between the Medina and new city. The Cinémathèque screens Moroccan video art, popular Arab films and American independent filkmaker John Cassavetes retrospectives. With its trendy vintage decor, light fixtures and Sixties flea market armchairs, it is the meeting place for Tangier's burgeoning boho community. From there, you can view the line of palm trees that runs to the square and the unusual panorama of a large mosque, a Spanish cathedral and an Anglican church.

Un paseito nocturno por el Paseo Marítimo de Tánger
A esta ciudad le gustan mucho la costumbre española del tardeo, así que a partir de esta hora el paseo marítimo de la ciudad es un bullicio de gente, familias, grupos de adolescentes, amigos, etc que se entregan alegremente a un alegre paseo nocturno para ver y, por supuesto, dejarse ver. Verás multitud de puestos ambulantes para picar algo. Déjate llevar.
Tangier operates on Spanish time. Tangier gets up late. As your one day in Tangier slips away, the promenade along the sea becomes crowded with families and groups of teenagers - everyone gets caught up in their light-hearted passeggiata (evening stroll).
